The Ugly Unicorn

If Norton was anything, it was ugly. He had been since birth. His coat was full of coarse, wiry grey-ish hairs which made him stick out like a sore thumb when he was amongst the other unicorns. His ears had always been too big, and as he grew older they just couldn't seem to hold themselves up anymore, so they flopped down and hung in his face, little curls of hair constantly getting in his way. The other unicorns had long, beautiful manes that made his heart ache when he thought of the scraggly hairs that made their way in small clumps down his back. His horn was dull and crooked and his legs were short and as thin as toothpicks. Everything about him seemed awkward and strange, and there was nothing to be done about it.

Norton never really thought too much about his appearance. He was different. It had always been that way, and it probably always would be. But the one thing he could quite understand was why the other unicorns just couldn't see him for who he was. Norton. Just Norton. Not an outcast. Not a freak. Not imperfect, but Norton.

Well, pretty much all I can say about this is that I missed drawing hard-core fantasy. I need a bit of a magic rush every now and again.

Don't think too much into this. I just read a fable that I had lying around my room this morning and I really felt like drawing an ugly unicorn. Nothing more, nothing less.
